Making Money Management Actually Make Sense
Back in early 2022, I was sitting with receipts scattered across my kitchen table at two in the morning. That's when it hit me—budgeting shouldn't feel this complicated.
Most financial tools felt like they were built for accountants, not regular people trying to get through the month without stress. So we started GlowTechDev with one goal: create budgeting education that normal humans can actually use.
How We Got Started
The first workshop we ran was in a coffee shop back room with eleven people. Half of them were friends who came to be supportive. But something clicked that afternoon.
People weren't looking for complex financial strategies or investment portfolios. They wanted to know where their money went each month. How to save for something specific. Why their bank balance always seemed lower than expected.
We realized there's a massive gap between traditional financial advice and what everyday budgeting actually looks like. You don't need sophisticated formulas when you're just trying to make rent and maybe save a bit on the side.
That first session turned into monthly meetups. Then those became structured courses. By mid-2023, we were running regular programs focused entirely on practical money management—the stuff they really should teach in school but somehow never do.
What Drives Our Approach
These aren't corporate values written for a boardroom. They're the principles that shape every course we create and every student interaction we have.
Real Numbers, Real Life
We use actual examples from everyday situations. No theoretical scenarios about people with six-figure salaries—just regular expenses and realistic savings goals.
Start Where You Are
Whatever your current financial situation looks like, that's the starting point. No judgment, no prerequisites, no assuming you already know the basics.
Simple Tools That Work
You don't need expensive software or complicated spreadsheets. Our methods work with whatever you're already using—even just pen and paper.
Who's Behind This
We're not financial advisors with fancy certifications. We're educators who believe everyone deserves to feel confident about their money without needing an economics degree.
Margot Desai
Margot spent six years teaching adult education before jumping into financial literacy. She's the one who insists on testing every lesson with real students first—no publishing anything until it actually makes sense to people who aren't money experts.
She started this whole thing because she was tired of watching smart people feel dumb about budgeting. Her philosophy: if the explanation is confusing, that's our problem to fix, not yours.
How Our Programs Work
We've refined our approach over dozens of course cycles. What works isn't revolutionary—it's just well-structured practice with actual support when you need it.
Foundation Building
We start by mapping your current spending without any changes. Most people discover patterns they never noticed—and that awareness alone shifts behavior.
Practical Systems
You'll create a budgeting method that fits your actual life—not some ideal version. We test it, adjust what doesn't work, and build from there.
Building Habits
The goal isn't perfection. It's developing routines that keep you aware of your finances without constant stress or time-consuming tracking.
See What We're Offering
Our next program cycle starts in September 2025. We keep class sizes manageable so there's actual time for questions and individual guidance. If you're interested in learning budgeting that actually sticks, come check out the details.
