Privacy Policy
Last Updated: March 15, 2025
We understand that managing your finances means trusting us with sensitive information. This privacy policy explains how glowtechdev handles your personal data when you use our budgeting platform.
We're based in Thailand and comply with local data protection requirements, but we believe good privacy practices go beyond legal minimums. This document walks you through what data we collect, why we need it, and how you can control it.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you sign up for glowtechdev, we ask for basic details to create your account. This includes your email address, a password you choose, and your name. If you're using our service in Thailand, we might also collect your phone number for account verification purposes.
Financial Data
Since we're a budgeting tool, you'll enter financial information to track your spending and savings. This can include:
- Income sources and amounts
- Expense categories and transaction details
- Budget goals and savings targets
- Bank account names (not account numbers or login credentials)
- Transaction descriptions and notes you add
We don't connect directly to your bank accounts. You manually enter or upload this information, which means you control exactly what data we see.
Usage Information
Like most web services, we automatically collect some technical data when you use our platform. This helps us keep the service running smoothly and fix problems when they come up:
- Your IP address and approximate location
- Browser type and device information
- Which features you use and how often
- Time spent on different pages
- Error messages and performance data
About Cookies: We use cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. You can disable cookies in your browser, though some features might not work as smoothly.
How We Use Your Information
Everything we collect serves a specific purpose. We're not in the business of selling data or showing you ads. Here's what we actually do with your information:
Providing the Service
The main reason we need your data is to make the budgeting tool work. Your financial information lets us calculate spending patterns, generate budget recommendations, and show you visual breakdowns of where your money goes. Without this data, we can't really help you manage your finances.
Improving Our Platform
We look at usage patterns (in aggregate, not individual accounts) to figure out which features people find helpful and where they get stuck. This helps us decide what to build next and what needs fixing. For example, if we notice everyone abandons a particular page, that tells us something's confusing there.
Customer Support
When you contact us for help, we'll access your account information to troubleshoot problems or answer questions. Our support team can see your account details, but they're trained on privacy practices and only look at what's necessary to help you.
Security and Fraud Prevention
We monitor for unusual activity that might indicate someone's trying to access your account without permission. This includes things like login attempts from new locations or suspicious patterns that don't match your normal behavior.
Data Storage and Security
Your financial information is sensitive, and we treat it that way. All data is encrypted both when it's transmitted to our servers and when it's stored in our database. We use industry-standard encryption protocols (TLS 1.3 for transmission, AES-256 for storage).
Our servers are located in secure data centers with physical access controls. We maintain regular backups in case of technical failures, but these backups receive the same encryption and access controls as the primary database.
Your Role in Security: We can implement strong security measures, but your account is only as secure as your password. Use a unique, strong password and don't share it with anyone. Enable two-factor authentication in your account settings for an extra layer of protection.
Data Retention
We keep your account information and financial data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we'll delete your personal data within 90 days, though we might retain some information for legal or accounting purposes (like transaction records required by Thai business law).
Usage logs and technical data are typically retained for 18 months before being automatically deleted.
Sharing Your Information
We don't sell your data to third parties. Period. But there are a few limited situations where we might share information:
Service Providers
We work with a small number of companies that help us run the platform. This includes our hosting provider, email service, and payment processor. These companies only get access to the minimum data they need to perform their specific function, and they're contractually required to protect your information.
| Service Provider | Purpose | Data Shared |
|---|---|---|
| Cloud Infrastructure | Hosting and database management | All account and financial data (encrypted) |
| Email Service | Sending notifications and updates | Email address, name |
| Payment Processor | Processing subscription payments | Email, payment method (handled by processor) |
| Analytics Platform | Understanding usage patterns | Anonymized usage data only |
Legal Requirements
We'll disclose information if required by Thai law, court order, or government request. This hasn't happened yet, but if it does, we'll notify you unless legally prohibited from doing so. We'll also review any request to make sure it's valid before complying.
Business Transfers
If glowtechdev is acquired or merges with another company, your information would be transferred to the new entity. We'd notify you before this happens and explain any changes to how your data will be handled.
Your Rights and Control
Your data belongs to you. We're just holding onto it to provide the service. Here's what you can do with your information:
Access Your Data
You can view all your account information and financial data anytime through your account dashboard. If you want a complete copy of everything we have about you, email us at help@glowtechdev.com with "Data Access Request" in the subject line. We'll send you a downloadable file within 30 days.
Correct Information
Found something wrong? You can edit most information directly in your account settings. For things you can't change yourself, contact our support team and we'll update it for you.
Delete Your Account
You can delete your account anytime from the account settings page. This is permanent and can't be undone. We'll remove all your personal and financial data within 90 days. Some anonymized usage statistics might remain in our systems, but they won't be connected to you.
Export Your Data
Want to take your financial data elsewhere? You can export your transactions, budgets, and other information as a CSV or JSON file from your account dashboard. This lets you move to another budgeting tool if you decide glowtechdev isn't right for you.
Object to Processing
You can opt out of certain data processing activities. For example, you can disable analytics tracking in your account settings. Keep in mind that some processing is essential to provide the service, so opting out of everything would effectively mean we can't offer you the budgeting features.
Response Time: We try to handle all privacy requests within 7 business days, though complex requests (like full data exports) might take up to 30 days. We'll keep you updated on the status of your request.
Thailand-Specific Provisions
Since we operate in Thailand, we comply with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) that came into full effect in 2022. Here's what this means for users in Thailand:
Legal Basis for Processing
We process your data based on the contract between us (the terms of service you agreed to when signing up) and, in some cases, our legitimate business interests. For sensitive financial data, we rely on your explicit consent, which you provide when entering information into the platform.
Data Protection Officer
For privacy-related concerns specific to PDPA compliance, you can contact our data protection representative at help@glowtechdev.com. While we don't have a dedicated DPO (we're a small team), this email goes to the person responsible for privacy compliance.
Cross-Border Transfers
Some of our service providers are based outside Thailand. When we transfer data internationally, we ensure the receiving country has adequate data protection laws or we implement additional safeguards like standard contractual clauses.
Children's Privacy
Our service isn't designed for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect information from children. If you're a parent and believe your child has created an account, please contact us immediately and we'll delete it.
Under Thai law, minors aged 10-18 may be able to use certain online services with parental consent. However, given the financial nature of our platform, we restrict it to adults only.
Changes to This Policy
We'll update this privacy policy occasionally as we add features or change how we handle data. When we make significant changes, we'll notify you by email and display a prominent notice in the application.
Minor updates (like clarifying existing practices or fixing typos) won't trigger notifications, but we'll always update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We keep archived versions of previous policies available on request if you want to see what changed.
Continuing to use glowtechdev after we post changes means you accept the updated policy. If you disagree with the changes, you can close your account before they take effect.
Additional Information
Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers have a "Do Not Track" feature. We don't currently respond to these signals because there's no industry standard for how to interpret them. However, you can control tracking through your account settings regardless of browser settings.
Third-Party Links
Our platform might contain links to external resources (like financial education articles). We're not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party sites. Always check their privacy policies before sharing information.
Mobile App Permissions
When we launch our mobile app (planned for late 2025), it will request certain device permissions. For example, camera access for receipt scanning or notification permissions for budget alerts. You can always revoke these permissions through your device settings, though some features won't work without them.
